Introduction

The "Faculty of Vocational Nursing Education," established in 2000, is one of the oldest nursing colleges in Sri Lanka. It guarantees 100% employment for its students, contributing significantly to the health sector. Students undergo 15 months of comprehensive training, including English language, Tamil language, and computer courses.

Additionally

Uniforms, exercise books, pens and pencils, safe residential facilities in the institution, medical equipment needed by a nurse etc. will be provided at affordable prices. In addition to this, sports events, language days, various concerts, religious programs and practical programs on epidemic prevention and control in connection with government institutions and training workshops are also organized during the course to develop leadership, team spirit, personality development and external activities of female students. These female students will be given the opportunity to participate.

Students who fail in G.C.E. (O/L)

G.C.E.(O/L) Mathematics, English, Science subjects are essential for entering the nursing course, but in many remote areas students fail in certain subjects due to insufficient facilities for these subjects. As a handout for such students, those students will be enrolled in the nursing course and during the course, additional G.C.E. (O/L) support classes for mathematics, science or English subjects will be conducted in the nursing college and the necessary help will be provided to pass the failed subject/subjects.

Free English course for nursing students

With an English course which is essential in dealing with the needs of a nurse, with a special English training including English grammar prepared based on subject terminologies (Medical Terms), speaking English which is essential in everyday life or in nursing, while moving up and obtaining international level qualifications or dealing with foreign doctors. The ability to do this will be provided in this course.

Free Tamil Speaking Course for nursing students

Tailored for those who have no basic knowledge of Tamil, this course provides training in writing, reading and speaking Tamil, which will be a special qualification in the private sector.

Free computer course for nursing students

This is a complete computer course (MS Office) and in addition to the nursing training course, this course will be provided theoretically and practically to all nursing students without charging any fees. In this way, all the nursing students will have the opportunity to move up in the computer field, which has huge job opportunities in addition to the nursing profession.

Training period

The training period of this nursing course is 15 months. During the first 12 months, the training will be conducted 05 days a week for 06 hours a day with lectures and practical opportunities. The last 03 months will be assigned to work in hospitals for practical and professional training, where 08 hours a day will be spent on training 06 days a week.

Basic Qualifications for Course

Sri Lankan Citizenship

Minimum height of 4 feet 10 inches

Age between 16 and 28 years

Good health with no physical deformities

Passed 6 subjects in G.C.E. (O/L) with Maths, Science, and Sinhala
